Two founders. One shared belief.
Stronger communities begin with places where people belong.
Fox Valley Community Learning Center didn't begin with a building. It began with two questions:
Why does learning have to end with graduation?
Why are there so many barriers to further education?
As Colleen Bies and Fanni Xie looked at the needs within our community, they saw something bigger than an empty school. They saw an opportunity to create an inclusive place where people of every age could continue learning, build meaningful relationships, and help one another grow. Where people could drop in to take a class of interest, share their vast knowledge of a particular subject, or simply connect in a welcoming environment.
Meet the Founders:
Colleen Bies is a community strategist, entrepreneur, veteran, and nonprofit leader dedicated to creating opportunities that strengthen communities. With a background in finance, business strategy, grant writing, and organizational leadership, she has spent her career helping organizations grow, solving complex challenges, and building meaningful partnerships.
Fanni Xie is a veteran, nonprofit leader, and community advocate with a background in behavioral health, social work, nonprofit leadership and running successful unique small businesses. Throughout her career, she has helped individuals and organizations overcome barriers, build strong connections, and create lasting opportunities for others.
